Kent State University President Lester A. Lefton announced today he will retire from the presidency of Ohio’s second largest public university, effective July 1, 2014. He has served as Kent State’s chief executive officer since July 1, 2006.

Kent Interhall Council (KIC) hosts the 2013 Lil’ Sibs Weekend at Kent State University from Friday, April 19, to Sunday, April 21. This weekend-long event has been a KIC tradition for more than 35 years. Last year, more than 2,000 people were in attendance, and event organizers are again looking forward to having record numbers in attendance at Lil’ Sibs Weekend. This event is open to all Kent State faculty, staff and students.

Former U.S. Poet Laureate Billy Collins visits Kent State University on Thursday, April 18, at 7:30 p.m. at the Kent Student Center Ballroom as part of the Wick Poetry Center’s annual U.S. Poet Laureate Reading in celebration of National Poetry Month. The reading is free and open to the public.

Nobel Peace Prize winner and Boston University Professor Elie Wiesel spoke at the second Kent State University Presidential Speaker Series on Thursday, April 11, at the Memorial Athletic and Convocation Center (MAC Center) on the Kent Campus. Wiesel addressed a sold-out crowd of 5,100 people. Many of the Kent State students in attendance were familiar with Wiesel’s memoir “Night,” in which he details the saga of his family being imprisoned and killed in concentration camps.
