Kent State University’s 2011-2012 United Way campaign is underway with the goal to raise $180,000 to impact the local community. This year’s theme is “Shared Passion: Giving Where We Live and Work.” The campaign will run through Dec. 2, with various fundraising opportunities for faculty and staff.

Kent State University President Lester A. Lefton has declared Friday, Oct. 14, as "spirit day" to celebrate Kent State's Homecoming. Wear your blue and gold or purchase the 2011 "Rock Out the RedHawks" Homecoming T-shirt.
The first 15,000 people who show up to the Homecoming game get a free pair of thundersticks for fans to use to make noise when Miami has the ball and when Kent State scores a touchdown.

Kent State University and its Department of Athletics have a jam-packed Homecoming schedule leading right up to the game with Miami University on Saturday, Oct. 15, at 3:30 p.m. at Dix Stadium.

Kent State University’s Homecoming took place on Saturday, Oct. 15. Sponsored by the Kent State Alumni Association, the day was filled with tradition and exciting activities.
For the second consecutive year, Times Higher Education, a London-based higher education magazine, has ranked Kent State University as one of world’s top universities in its annual World University Rankings.

As midterms approach, Kent State University students are finally getting into the swing of the fall semester. Many students need three solid weeks to start taking classes seriously, so when the exam and essay wave hits, it could potentially be disastrous.
Matt Kolic, a Kent State University student majoring in entrepreneurship and native of Canton, Ohio, is experiencing success with Steel Clothing, a fitness and bodybuilding apparel company he launched earlier this year.

Kent State University senior Matt Kolic launched Steel Clothing, a fitness and bodybuilding apparel company, in April 2011 and has already seen success. Kolic, 23, is an entrepreneurship major from Canton, Ohio, and expects to graduate from the university in May 2012. The mission of the company is to bring updated fashion to the industry.

Two-time Pulitzer Prize winner and U.S. Poet Laureate 2010-2011 W.S. Merwin is coming to Kent State University on Monday, Oct. 10, for two public events that will provide rare opportunities for the community to learn about his life and renowned poetry.
