The school year is coming to an end and finals, along with the stress that comes with them, are quickly approaching.
Kent State University will hold its Spring 2014 Commencement ceremonies for the Kent Campus on Friday, May 9, and Saturday, May 10, at the Memorial Athletic and Convocation Center (MAC Center) and on Friday, May 16, at Cartwright Hall. Kent State will confer 3,820 degrees, including 2,811 bachelor’s degrees, 860 master’s degrees, 144 doctoral degrees and five educational specialist degrees.
Kent State University held its 44th annual commemoration of May 4, 1970, with events that took place May 3 and 4. The annual commemoration, hosted by the May 4 Task Force, provided an opportunity for the university community to gather and remember those who were lost and injured during the tragedy and also reflect on what May 4 means today.
Lil’ Sibs Weekend, titled Sibs in Space, will be held from Friday, April 25, through Sunday, April 27. It is open to little siblings (or cousins or family friends) of students, as well as children of Kent State University faculty and staff members.
The 20th anniversary of FlashFest took place Thursday, April 24, at 3 p.m. on the Student Green. This annual Kent State University tradition featured live performances, food, games and prizes.
Kent State University faculty, staff and students will notice a new building on the Kent Campus this fall when the university welcomes the College of Applied Engineering, Sustainability and Technology to the Science Mall. A midpoint construction event, themed “Science Springs Forward,” took place Wednesday, April 23, on the Science Mall in front of Henderson Hall and the construction site of the new building.
Brock Bernholtz, Kent State University junior entrepreneurship major, is the CEO and founder of InCheck Services LLC, a drop-off tracking application that allows customers to stay in touch with items that are dropped off for repairs, changes and more.

Four creative groups across Kent State University earned 10 awards at the 2014 Akron ADDY Award ceremony, hosted by the American Advertising Federation-Akron (AAF-Akron).
A reception and celebration to honor Kent State University President Lester A. Lefton was held Friday, April 4, from 4-5:30 p.m. at the Kent Student Center Ballroom. The event, hosted by the Kent State Board of Trustees, was open to all faculty, staff, students, alumni and members of the community.
