Strong Season Comes
to End in California

LOS ANGELES - The Golden Flashes could not overcome five unearned Anteater runs in the top of the first as Kent State (39-25) fell to UC Irvine (38-20) 19-9 in the third game of the NCAA Los Angeles regional.
"It's really disappointing. We played very poorly and we are a better team than that," said head coach Scott Stricklin. "I wish we could have performed better to show the people out here that we are a very good team. We walked away from here with two poorly played games and it's unfortunate that we ended the season like that."

Today's game was the final appearance for a senior class that went a combined 189-108 in five seasons with three Mid-American Conference tournament championships and a pair of conference regular season titles.

"All three seniors have been outstanding," Stricklin said. "Anthony Gallas rewrote the record book and Jared Humphreys was our leadoff guy three of his four years. Cory Hindel transferred in from Wake Forest and was a rock behind the plate in our three straight MAC championships. Those three seniors have meant a lot to us and we are sorry to see them leave."
