Men's Sports Double Header Results in One Win

Flashes Grapplers Win Home Opener Tuesday Afternoon Against Edinboro, 22-15

A pair of Top 25 teams battled Tuesday afternoon in the MAC Center when Kent State hosted Edinboro in its first home dual of the season.  The Golden Flashes were coming off an impressive second place finish at the Body Bar Invitational Saturday.  Kent State was without the services of senior Nic Bedelyon (Lewistown, Pa.), who was competing Monday night in the NWCA All-Star Classic against Oklahoma's Jarrod Patterson in Tempe, AZ. Kent State Fell to Local Rival CSU, 53-57

The Flashes dual against Edinboro was followed by a Kent State men's basketball game against Cleveland State, during which they lost 53-57.

The Golden Flashes are now off to a 2-1 start thanks to a season opening 70-60 win at perennial Big East power West Virginia and a 77-58 home victory over Alcorn State. Led by the highlight reel dunks from junior forward Chris Evans, Kent State has five players averaging in double figures this season. 

The Cleveland State Vikings have been just as successful this season and now have a 3-1 start including wins at No. 7 Vanderbilt and at home over Atlantic 10 title contender St. Bonaventure. The Vikings are coached by former Golden Flashes head man Gary Waters, who led Kent State to three post-season appearances, including two trips to the NCAA tournament during his five-year stay at Kent State.
