The new location of Kent State University’s Cleveland Urban Design Collaborative in the Playhouse Square District sports new signs that help bring attention to the university’s continued presence in downtown Cleveland.
Kent State’s Cleveland Urban Design Collaborative Sports New Signs in PlayhouseSquare District
When theatergoers gaze down Cleveland’s Euclid Corridor, they will now see Kent State University signage among the bold and theatrical buildings. The new location of Kent State’s Cleveland Urban Design Collaborative in the PlayhouseSquare District sports new signs that help bring attention to the university’s continued presence in downtown Cleveland.
Kent State’s Cleveland Urban Design Collaborative is the home of university’s urban design graduate program. Supported by the College of Architecture and Environmental Design, Kent State’s Cleveland Urban Design Collaborative offers urban design expertise and applied research in the service of urban communities, design professionals and public policy efforts.
Kent State’s Cleveland Urban Design Collaborative first opened in Cleveland in 1999, providing research and technical expertise to the city’s leaders and policy makers for more than a decade. It moved into its new PlayhouseSquare location at 1309 Euclid Ave. in Suite 200 about a year ago.
“The new Cleveland Urban Design Collaborative signage was designed to be consistent with the notable scale of the signs along the corridor in PlayhouseSquare,” says David Jurca, an urban designer with Kent State’s Cleveland Urban Design Collaborative. “The ‘Kent State University’ letters are much more prominent now than in our last location and are face-lit, maintaining the Kent State presence in downtown Cleveland by glowing at night. We also have three colorful banners that were intended to continue the lively rhythm of the street.”
