Parents’ and Family Day: Nov. 6
This year, parents and families of Kent State University students are invited to take part in a day of fun and football as the university presents Parents’ and Family Day on Saturday, Nov. 6. Parents, families and students are encouraged to cheer on the Golden Flashes, who are undefeated at home (3-0), as they play against Temple University in a 2 p.m. game.
Events and activities begin at 9 a.m. with a Gear Up! Year One, Part II first-year family workshop held in the Kent Student Center Kiva from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. This workshop focuses on many things that families need to know prior to their student’s second semester. Topics include student involvement, student career development and financial aid.
The Golden Flashes Football Barbecue Tailgate will occur from 11:30 a.m. to kickoff time. Festivities for the tailgate take place inside the Field House, and all family members are invited to take part in a day of fun, food and football. In addition to being Parents’ and Family Day, it also is Band Day with six high school bands performing at Dix Stadium. Please R.S.V.P. by calling 330-672-2244. The ticket cost is $20, and it includes a game ticket, barbecue, inflatables and music.
In addition, there will be a Faces in Fantasy Place in the Rathskeller at the Kent Student Center from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Participants can pose and get their picture digitally transposed onto the middle of magazine covers, action scenes, poses with movie starts and much more.
Other area attractions and events include:
- Nov. 6 – “Brigadoon” performed by Kent State’s School of Theatre and Dance (call 330-672-2497)
